We provide consistent, compassionate care from our locations in Lovejoy, Fairburn, and Powder Springs.
What is Early Treatment?
Many children begin their orthodontic treatment between the ages of 10 and 14. At these ages, many of the permanent teeth have grown in, making it an appropriate time to begin braces or similar orthodontic treatments. At this point, children often have developed misalignments in their teeth or jaw, which may require an extensive treatment plan. With early treatment, your child can begin treatment as soon as issues are developing. This will minimize the severity of misalignments and other concerns, reducing the amount of treatment needed when it is time to begin a braces treatment.
When Should Early Treatment Begin?
By the age of seven, most children have developed their incisors and first permanent molars. Once these have developed, it will be possible to evaluate the mouth to assess how the teeth are growing. With early treatment, you can detect crossbites, teeth crowding, and other concerns before they become too severe. For these reasons, it is recommended to take your child to an orthodontist by the age of seven to begin early treatment and simplify any future treatment that may be needed.
